Caring for Your Home
Love was definitely in the air this past weekend whether you spent it with your significant other, friends, or family. However, don’t forget the home you live in also deserves some love too! We figured we should share with you how to love and care for your home all year round. There are so many ways that you could go about caring for your home including cleaning, organizing, or decluttering.
Cleaning
When you come back from a long and tiring day at work the last thing you probably want to do is clean up after your child’s toys or deep clean the bathroom toilets. Unfortunately, it is something that needs to be done whether you clean your home daily, weekly, or monthly. Create a cleaning/chore schedule so that you know when everything needs to be cleaned. You can also make it an activity for the whole family to join in on where everyone is responsible for a specific chore or room in the house. When you have a system, everything is much more organized and more gets done. It also helps to maintain a clean and organized lifestyle. For example, putting your clothes away right after you fold them or placing your dishes in the sink right after using them.
Organizing
How organized your home plays a huge part in your daily life. It is never a bad thing to be more organized. You can start as small as organizing all the paperwork on your desk or organizing your bookshelf in the living room. Once you integrate smaller lifestyle changes in your life you can tackle the closets or organizing all of your belongings in the basement that you have not touched in years. Keeping your home organized can help keep your life much more organized as well!
Decluttering
Decluttering is when you get rid of belongings that you no longer need or find a use for. When you take the time to declutter your home believe it or not you are also helping yourself declutter your mind. In a way, you are caring for your home and yourself as well!
Do you ever feel overwhelmed and not at peace when you come home because your place is an absolute mess? Decluttering can help get you to that peaceful state and put your mind at ease. Decluttering can be a stressful process especially when you barely have the time to fold the laundry, wash the dishes, or make your own bed. However, it can be a quick and painless process when you put your mind to it and dedicate some time to do so. Whether you donate or throw away one of your belongings a day or ten, either way, you are doing yourself a huge favour. A major plus with decluttering is that it means less cleaning on a daily basis. When you have less stuff, you do not have to clean as often.

Storage
Take advantage of storage solutions whether it is in your home or if you have looked to other storage options including self-storage. Self-storage is a wonderful go-to option when you have no space for the belongings that you still want to keep, but do not have space for it. Place your boxes of old photos that mean a lot to you, but you do not have the room for. That is what we do at XYZ Storage, we help you make room for more people and belongings that you love in your home!
We hope you decide to show your loved ones how much you care and appreciate them by keeping your home a little tidier amongst the many other things that you do for them all year long. You don’t need to wait until next Valentine’s Day, birthday, or anniversary to do something special for your significant other. Taking care of your home all year long can be a thoughtful gift. What a nice gift that would be – coming home to a sparkling clean kitchen!
