New Decade, New Year, New Organized Life

Office

We have reached a new year and with a new year comes a new set of goals that we set for ourselves to strive for. What makes 2020 even more special is that it is also a new decade, so it is about time to start tackling those new year resolutions. These goals could include anything from you trying to make it to the gym three times a week, connecting with friends more often, eating healthier, or looking to jumpstart your career. However, today, we are going to talk about ways you can organize your life. Anything from how to balance your personal life and career to making small routine changes in your life. We are here to help organize your life a little more than it was before you started reading this article.

Start by pinpointing all the areas in your life that you can or want to improve in order to set organizational goals for yourself. This could be anything from your school, work, or family life. Here are some ways you can start organizing your life today:

Creating a Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Calendar

Calendar

Outline everything that you have to do on a daily basis, weekly, and month by month. You can have a separate agenda or calendar for your work/school life and your personal life. If you decide to use the same calendar colour code any tasks or events based on whether it is work, school or personal-related. With having an agenda, it allows you to mark down any important tasks that you have to do throughout the month. So, you do not have to miss any important events including dentist appointments, school plays, or important gatherings. If you have a family, try creating a larger version of a weekly and monthly calendar to hang in the kitchen for all members of your family to view. This way it could make sure that everyone is in the loop of who needs to be where when.

Journaling

Organizing your mental mindset is just as important as organizing all the crazy life events happening in your life right now. Journaling is one of the most beneficial ways to keep your mental state in check. Spend 10-15 minutes of your time in the morning when you wake up and jot down your feelings and thoughts before the start of your day. This will allow you to “brain dump” and clear your mind before jumpstarting your day. However, if your mornings are crazy like the rest of us you can also write everything down right before you head to bed to clear your mind of everything that bothered you or brought you joy throughout the day.

Having a Routine and a Bucket list

Bucket List

A routine can seem boring if you are not the kind of person that likes doing the same thing every day. However, when you make something part of your routine it helps ensure that tasks get done. Time to stop letting those dishes pile up in the kitchen or clothes on the bedroom floor. When you take the time to slowly implement simple daily tasks into your routine it can make your life a whole lot easier. For example, if you do not put something back to where it was after using it make it a habit to do so. If one of your areas in your life you want to improve on is cleaning, make a cleaning schedule and integrate it into your routine to ensure that everything gets done. You will have less dirty dishes in the sink piling up or the dirty clothes on the floor.

To help get through the routine days have something to look forward to at the end of every week. Make a list of all the activities and events you want to do on the weekends, so that you get yourself through the week.

Organizing a Meal Plan

Meal Plan

Is one of your goals maintaining a healthier lifestyle? If so, consider meal planning to avoid eating out on the days you are too tired to cook dinner for yourself or for your family. Use meal planning as a way to organize your cooking and eating schedule in order to help you reach your new year’s resolution for 2020. Meal planning is a way to list out all the meals you plan to make each day whether it is for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can also make the meals ahead of time and have it ready on the table in minutes. It saves you time and helps you reach your goals!

Decluttering and Storage

There are also ways to organize your home as well. Decluttering is a useful tactic to help organize the rest of your home. Take a look at all of your belongings and start sorting them all out. Some of the ways you can declutter your home is to throw out, donate, or store any of your belongings in self-storage. This is what exactly we do here at XYZ Storage, we help you make space and organize your life so you can continue reaching all of your goals. From all of us at XYZ Storage, we hope that you can meet all of your organizational new year’s resolutions this year!
