Organizing Your Self-Storage Unit

Spring time is upon us and as always the first thing that comes to our minds is the dreadful winter clean up. Whether it may be in or out doors, we always like to start the spring/summer with a clean slate.

We are the same at All Canadian Self-Storage, we enjoy the winter months, but we know that spring cleaning is necessary in the warehouse and in the office! Organizing can be difficult, trying to find where this file should go and where last years reports should be stored and organized. Organization isn’t everyone’s strong suit; fortunately the packing pros (AKA our beloved staff at All Canadian Self-Storage) have you covered.

Wondering how to stack? Is your garage the new Mt. Junktion? Do you really need that 10-year-old crockpot? Follow these 5 simple steps and you won’t believe how easy organizing your storage unit can be!

1. Figure out suitable sizing (or just ask! That’s what we’re here for)

It’s better to know than be unsure. Figuring out ahead of time saves you time, paperwork and unnecessary stress.

2. Draw out a rough map sketch

Why not pre-plan your soon-to-be space? Instead of tackling everything in the moment, try drawing out a rough sketch of what you want the floor plan of your unit to look like.

3.  Buy the right tools

In order to get the job done right, you require the right tools to help get the job done. Avoid clutter and look into organizational tools such as storage cubbies, portable shelving, reusable bins/tubs, anything that will help condense and help you sort.

4. DON’T LEAVE EVERYTHING TO THE LAST MINUTE!

Things can happen unexpectedly, it’s best to be as prepared as possible. Schedule any moving vehicles ahead of time, scope out the facility before storing (walk-ins are welcome here), and have a small amount of cash on-hand just in case.

5. KEEP CALM AND STORAGE ON!

You’re done! Now, wasnt that the easiest packing/storage solution ever?
