Spotlight On Baldwin’s Grist Mill

AS A MEMBER OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF SCARBOROUGH http://goo.gl/y1qxP I HAVE AND HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF MEETING MANY INTERESTING PEOPLE, DOING SOME REALLY GOOD WORKS IN AND OUT OF OUR COMMUNITY. LAST NIGHT I WAS HONOURED ALONG WITH A FEW OTHER ROTARIANS TO HAVE DINNER AT THE HISTORIC BALDWIN MILL. THE MILL IS LOCATED NORTH OF THE CITY NEAR GEORGINA. IT IS PRIVATELY OWNED AND NOT ACCESSIBLE TO THE PUBLIC BUT THE OWNER JUST HAPPENS TO BE A ROTARIAN AND A MOST GRACIOUS HOST.

THE GRIST MILL (A.K.A. THE FEED MILL) SITS ON THE BLACK RIVER. THE FIRST MILL WAS BUILT IN THE EARLY 1800S AND BOTH IT AND THE NEXT BURNED DOWN. THE CURRENT STRUCTURE, THE THIRD MILL ON THE SITE, WAS BROUGHT FROM KESWICK PIECE BY PIECE AND BEGAN OPERATION IN 1883.
I HAD A GREAT TIME WITH MY FELLOW ROTARIANS AND WANT TO THANK NORM FOR SHOWING ME AROUND THIS MOST HISTORIC PLACE.
THE SCARBOROUGH ROTARY CLUB MEETS EVERY TUESDAY AT 12:30PM FOR LUNCH AT THE SCARBORO GOLF CLUB. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO COME OUT AND MEET SOME GREAT PEOPLE AND HAVE LUNCH AS MY GUEST,EMAIL ME AT ALLCANADIANSTORAGE@GMAIL.COM TO SET UP A DATE THAT IS SUITABLE TO YOUR SCHEDULE.

THANK YOU.
