Spring Cleaning Checklist
Spring is in the air – which means it is that time of the year again for Spring cleaning. Has the thought of Spring cleaning not crossed your mind until now? Do not worry! We at XYZ Storage are here to help with a quick list to cover some of the areas in your home you should consider cleaning. Get the whole family to join in and help with Spring cleaning this year!
Kids Rooms
Having the kids join in on Spring cleaning will make it much easier when cleaning through your child’s bedroom. It is an opportunity for your child to learn about decluttering their belongings, especially all of their toys, books, games, and crafts. You can teach them how to sort through their belongings and make decisions on what they would like to keep or donate. It is a wonderful way to get the kids involved in Spring cleaning and saves you the time and energy for the rest of the house.
Tackling Your Closet
It is about that time of the year to prepare for the spring and summer months ahead by putting away all your winter jackets, warm sweaters, and long cardigans in storage. To prepare them for storage it is important to clean and dry them first. It is also the perfect opportunity to take the time to declutter your closet by going through each clothing item you own and deciding if it is worth keeping. If not, you might consider donating it to someone in need or selling it to a friend.
Deep Cleaning the Kitchen and Bathroom
How often do you find yourself deep cleaning the surfaces in your bathroom and kitchen? If you cannot remember the last time you brought out your cleaning supplies, now will be a perfect time! Spend a good chunk of your day deep cleaning your kitchen appliances, wiping down your counters, and cleaning your cabinets. Do the same with your bathrooms by thoroughly cleaning your sink, bathtub/shower, and toilet. This should be done more often than every Spring season so try and incorporate it into your weekly or at least bi-weekly cleaning routine.
Disinfecting Common Areas of Your Home
Do not forget about consistently disinfecting commonly touched surfaces and frequently used belongings in your home. Here are some items and surfaces, you should be disinfecting to avoid germs being spread:
- Doorknobs
- Television remotes
- Cell phones
- Countertops
- Light switches
- Tables
You want to make sure that what you are using to disinfect these surfaces contains at least 70% alcohol to help prevent germs from being spread between what you are bringing into your home and between your household members.
