How to Keep Yourself Motivated and Productive During This Time

2020 is going nothing like we expected. Are you finding yourself not meeting the goals you set for yourself earlier in the year? You might find yourself feeling unmotivated and not as productive as you would have liked. It is not too late to try and reach those goals. Being at home does not mean all the goals you set for yourself go to waste. All you have to do is adjust your goals or even make new ones. Here is how to keep yourself motivated and productive during this time:

Learn a New Skill

Take on the task of learning some new life skills! If you could not find the time before to pick up a hobby or to learn a new skill now is your chance. Always wanted to be the master chef in your household? Cook up a few dishes. Do you love eating sweets? How about you take a chance on yourself and bake them too! You can learn a skill that will further your career whether it is learning photoshop, editing videos, writing, or reading. This is your time to learn and possibly master a new skill.

Exercise Routine

Was one of your main goals for 2020 to exercise more? Whether or not you got yourself to the gym earlier this year take this time to fix yourself up a new work-out routine. This is your time to shine and get creative with your surroundings and the equipment you have. Search up on YouTube some workout routines you can do at home and possibly add your own twist on it. Workout with a buddy whether it is your dog at home or your friend on FaceTime! Who says you have to work out alone?

Journaling

Lacking inspiration lately? Writing out your thoughts or journaling can help you sort everything that is going on in your mind. It can also be a way to help you get inspired by what is around you, what you have experienced in the past, and also gives you a chance to be creative with your words. A journal is not an expensive item to buy and can last you a long time. Get those creative juices flowing!

Start a Side Hustle

If you are in a situation where you either just finished your exams for the term, work has been slow, or looking for a new way to be inspired? Why not start a side hustle? If you have ever had the thought cross your mind where you want to start your own business, but either do not know how or do not have the time to do so. Here is your chance to turn your passion into your side hustle. Take this opportunity to explore the things that you are passionate about and turn it into a profitable business or even a fun hobby.

Stay Connected

Most importantly stay connected and do not let self-isolation take a toll on your mental health. Being physically distant from your friends and loved ones does not mean you have to stop talking. Thanks to technology we are more connected now than ever through the ability to text, call, or video-call one another. We can keep up to date with our friends and family’s daily lives which means we can be together while keeping apart. Give your loved ones a call and check-in to see how they are doing. Here is a list of some of my favourite websites and applications for staying connected with friends and family:

  • Zoom – it is not only for those busy work meetings, but you can use it for family and friend gatherings
  • Try having a Netflix party if you are tired of having a Netflix party for one
  • Miss game nights with your friends, check out the houseparty app

Perform an Act of Kindness

As a friendly reminder, every Saturday you can stop by our 459 Eastern Avenue storage facility location for our socially distanced PPE collection drive in support of Conquercovid19. Your donations will help our brave frontline healthcare workers. To learn more about donating check out: Doing What We Can For Canada’s Healthcare Workers.

From all of us at XYZ Storage, we would like to thank all of the frontline workers for their bravery and commitment. We hope that you and your family are staying safe and are practicing social distancing.
