Time to Get Ahead With Your Spring Cleaning

Kids helping house chores

Every year you may find yourself procrastinating on doing your spring cleaning; however, being cooped up at home due to the pandemic has given many of us the gift of time. The time to get ahead with your spring cleaning. Cleaning and disinfecting your home including frequently touched surfaces and areas is a huge part of keeping you and your loved ones safe. To help you start your spring-cleaning journey this year here are four areas of your home you could start with:

1. Kitchen

When was the last time you went through all of the food and drinks in the pantry? Is there a chance one or multiple items are expired? Have kitchen appliances and utensils you never use? The best way to figure this out is to empty all of your cabinets, pantry, and refrigerator. This will allow you to wipe down your refrigerator and cabinets and at the same time get rid of any kitchen utensils you no longer use as well as any expired food items. Do not forget about cleaning all of your other kitchen appliances including your stovetop, microwave, sink, dishwasher, etc.

2. Bathroom

Bathrooms can accumulate tonnes of dirt and dust over time, so it is important to make sure you tackle each of your bathrooms during your spring cleaning. Get ready with your all-purpose bathroom cleaner and start scrubbing. This includes your toilet, shower, bathtub, sink, mirrors, cabinets, and floors. The easiest way to do so is to remove all your bathroom belongings from the bathroom and start cleaning.

3. Bedroom

The first thing you can tackle in your bedroom is your bed sheets, pillows, and blankets and making sure they are washed. Think about how much time you spend laying in your bed and how dirty they can get overtime. Besides, who doesn’t love fresh and clean sheets? The next area in your bedroom to clean and organize can be your closet and drawers. Spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to sort through all of your clothes and slowly put away your warm sweaters in exchange for t-shirts, shorts, and spring dresses.

4. Basement or Garage

Still, have piles of junk in your basement or garage that you cannot get yourself to sort through? Most of us dread having to tackle organizing the garage or basement, however, it is one of those tasks that just have to be done. Struggling to figure out where to start? Feel free to check out our past blog post Cleaning Your Basement: Where to Start and How to do a Massive Garage Cleanout for some helpful tips on tackling these two large areas in your home.

Self-storage

While you are doing your spring cleaning you may happen to come across belongings that you no longer have space for but aren’t quite ready to get rid of and that is okay! Renting a self-storage unit can be extremely helpful in storing your belongings for a short period of time or perhaps a longer one. Self-storage can be used for storing your winter clothes, sporting equipment, furniture, and more.
